Team - Family Time Service 


Hours - 37 Hours per Week 


Salary up to £37,280 per annum (pay award pending)


We currently have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Family Support Worker to join our friendly Family Time Team. 


Due to the nature of this post, this role requires flexible working hours to meet the needs of the service and there will be a requirement to work some evenings till 8:00 pm and some Saturdays.


About the team 


Based at Willow House, Chelmsley Wood, Solihull’s Family Time service is a small multi-agency team working with children and families across the borough. This is an exciting time to join as we continue to invest in the service, creating a team which will work within the communities.  


As part of the Family Time team, you will work within a dedicated team of experienced professionals working across the contact centre and in the community.  

Due to the nature of this service, the posts will require a flexible approach to working hours as the contact centre will operate from 9:30 am to 8:00 pm.


About the Role 


As Family Support worker in the Family Time Service, you will provide high quality support for children, young people and families. You will hold your own caseload, undertaking a range of direct work such as Life story work, a therapeutic process that helps children and young people understand their past, identity, and personal history to build a positive self-image aiding in healing from trauma and fostering security. You will complete a range of evidence-based interventions as well as implementing plans within the Family time centre, family homes and in community venues.


You will supervise scheduled, purposeful Family time whilst promoting safe and meaningful family connections ensuring the child’s best interests remain central.

You will work as part of a multi-agency approach and support the coordination of support for families. 


About You 


To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate: 


  • Level 3 qualification, e.g. Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People's Workforce

  • Experience of working on a 1-1 basis with children, youngpeopleor their families in a social care, educational or voluntary setting

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills toestablishcollaborative relationships with children and their families, which may be emotionally demanding at times

  • Good organisational skills

  • Effective team working skills

  • Experience of writing reports and knowledge of promoting safeguarding issues

  • Experience of undertaking assessments, an understanding of the threshold criteria, skills in delivering direct work and interventions that are evidence based are crucial for this role.
